Grok Briefly Booted from X

X temporarily banned its own AI chatbot Grok on Monday, suspending the account operated by Elon Musk’s xAI company for alleged platform violations in the latest controversy surrounding the unpredictable artificial intelligence system.
The account remained inaccessible for 15 to 20 minutes before being restored. Users who tried to view the profile during this period saw X’s standard suspension notice.
After reinstatement, Grok posted multiple explanations for the ban — later removed — claiming it was suspended for stating “that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza.” The AI system said this assessment was “substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem.”

Sonoro Gold Corp. (TSXV: SGO) is a junior gold exploration, development, and soon to be gold producer, with properties in the mining-friendly jurisdiction of Sonora, Mexico. The company is in the final permitting stage to develop an initial 12,000 tonnes per day heap leach mining operation at its flagship property, the Cerro Caliche gold project, and utilize the generated cash flow to fund further exploration and mine expansion.

What’s the latest?
Trade War: Ontario is launching a $1 billion emergency loan program to support steel, aluminum, and auto businesses hit hardest by U.S. Sec. 232 tariffs. The Protect Ontario Financing Program will provide loans from $250,000 to $40 million for companies with at least 10 employees and $2 million in annual revenue, after federal aid is exhausted. Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said the measure aims to protect jobs and bolster economic resilience amid ongoing U.S. tariffs.
Real Estate: RBC forecasts Canada’s housing market will see gradual recovery in late 2025, but Ontario and B.C.’s high inventory will keep prices under pressure until 2026, with Ontario prices expected to drop 1% in 2025 and 1.4% in 2026. Condo markets in Toronto and Vancouver face steep declines, while Prairies, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada should see modest gains. Lower interest rates are spurring sales, but affordability remains a challenge, and rental demand is cooling due to reduced immigration. National home prices are projected to rise just 0.7% in 2025.
Air Canada: Air Canada will start gradually suspending flights Thursday ahead of a possible flight attendant strike set for Saturday, with all mainline and Rouge flights stopping by the weekend while Air Canada Express service continues. The move follows failed contract talks with the union representing 10,000 flight attendants, which cited low pay and unpaid work as key issues. The union rejected binding arbitration, insisting on a negotiated deal members can vote on, while the airline has arranged limited alternative travel options and will refund cancelled flights.
Hudbay Minerals : Hudbay Minerals will sell a 30% stake in its Copper World project in Arizona to Mitsubishi Corp for US$600 million, with $420 million paid at closing and $180 million within 18 months. The deal, expected to close late this year or early next, boosts financing for the mine, which will produce 85,000 tonnes of copper annually over 20 years. Hudbay says the “Made in America” output will strengthen the U.S. supply chain, and shares jumped nearly 17% after the announcement.
Altman vs Musk: A U.S. federal judge has rejected Elon Musk’s attempt to dismiss OpenAI’s claims of a “years-long harassment campaign” against the company he co-founded and later left. OpenAI accuses Musk of trying to harm it through media attacks, legal actions, and a failed bid for its assets. The case, which stems from Musk’s lawsuit over OpenAI’s shift to a for-profit model, is set for a jury trial in spring 2026.
