Iran Airs Trump Motorcade Analysis

As military tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to intensify, Iranian state television has moved beyond battlefield messaging and into the realm of presidential security, broadcasting an extended segment analyzing President Donald Trump’s Secret Service motorcade, travel routines, and frequently used routes in Florida and New York.
Rather than announcing a military development, the program presented itself as an analytical report. According to the Persian-language narration, the production examined Trump’s routine movements between 2024 and 2026 using what it described as “the most complex security protocols.”

What’s the latest?
Trade War: The U.S. will impose a 25% tariff on certain Brazilian imports starting July 22, while exempting products such as coffee, beef, oranges, orange juice, and aircraft components. Brazil called the tariffs politically motivated, threatened reciprocal measures, and noted that 76% of U.S. imports entered Brazil duty-free in 2025 with an average tariff of 3.1%, despite the U.S. posting a US$42B trade surplus with Brazil last year.
Markets: The TSX fell 76 points (-0.2%) to 35,340, while the Dow (-106), S&P 500 (-39), and Nasdaq (-387) also declined. The Canadian dollar rose to US$0.7124, WTI crude fell to US$78.28/barrel (-US$0.84), and gold dropped US$59.70 to US$3,992.10/oz.
Politics: The Gordie Howe International Bridge will open July 27, with Canada and the U.S. agreeing to split 50/50 net revenues (after operating costs and debt repayment) for the first 15 years. The new deal replaces the 2012 agreement, under which Canada would have kept 100% of toll revenue until recovering the $6.4B construction cost, and the full agreement has not yet been released.
Real Estate: Canada home resales rose 0.5% in June (third straight monthly gain) but remained 12% below the 10-year average, indicating only a modest recovery. CREA now forecasts 463,336 home sales in 2026 (-1.4% YoY) and an average home price of $686,710 (+1.1% YoY), while RBC says buyer demand remains weak despite improving inventories and affordability.
Trump Media: Trump Media plans to launch Truth PSI next month, a paid service offering millisecond-fast access to posts from top Truth Social accounts, potentially including President Trump's market-moving posts. The company says customers are already signed up, while Trump Media shares are down 70% since Trump took office, and the plan has drawn ethics concerns over selling faster access to presidential communications.
