NFT event gives “laser eyes” new meaning

Complaints of eye problems have arisen among attendees of a celebration in Hong Kong dedicated to the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s collection of nonfungible tokens (NFTs), with many attributing the issue to the event’s lighting.

Yuga Labs Inc., the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, recently hosted the ApeFest from November 3rd to 5th, featuring a brightly illuminated party. Some individuals took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their experiences of eye discomfort following their attendance at ApeFest.

“We are aware of this situation and are taking it seriously,” stated a spokesperson from Yuga Labs. “We are actively reaching out to those affected to better understand the root cause.”

  • Telemedicine: Virtual urgent care in Ontario did not significantly reduce in-person emergency department visits, according to a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. The study, which evaluated over 19,000 virtual care visits, found that nearly 13% of patients sought emergency care within three days post virtual consultation, and almost 22% did so within a month. The findings suggest that while virtual care has benefits for minor health issues, it has not lessened the burden on emergency services as anticipated.
